SEASON OF LENT (Easter Sunday)

Easter Sunday
April 8, 2012

This is a day of Resurrection. I am a new creation in Spirit.

The Easter story suggests that it is more important to have something to look forward from. When we look forward from a consciousness of unity with life, oneness with God, all work, play, relationships and religion become inner-centered. We become more concerned with what we can give to life than what life is giving to us. And the Resurrection becomes not just another miracle, but a timeless quality of life.
There is a need to forgive and forget, to let go the crucifixion and the blame fixing and self-limiting concepts about it. A far more relevant symbol might be the empty tomb, the perfect circle.

Mark 16:6   But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed, you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him.

INSPIRATIONAL STORY (The Empty Chair)

The Empty Chair
A man's daughter asked the Pastor of her church if he would come to her house and pray with her dad. He had been very sick and bedridden and she was becoming very worried about him. They never spoke about God or Jesus amongst the family or in the house, so she didn't know if he had received Christ as his Savior.
When the Pastor arrived, she led him to her dad's room. The Pastor found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows and an empty chair next to the bed. The Pastor assumed that the old man was told about his coming to visit and he sat down on the chair.
"I guess you were expecting me?" asked the Pastor.
     "No. Who are you?"
"I'm the new Pastor of the church that your daughter attends." He replied. "When I saw the empty chair, I figured you were expecting me."
"Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?"
The Pastor was a bit puzzled but thought the man probably wanted privacy from his daughter. He got up to close the door then returned to the chair beside the bed.
"I've never told anyone this, not even my daughter," the man shamefully said with his head bowed. "But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church, I used to hear the Pastor talk about prayer, but it always went right over my head. He never explained HOW  I'm suppose to pray. What am I suppose to say? What am I suppose to do?  I just didn't understand what he meant. So I gave up all attempts at prayer."
The man slowly raised his head to look the Pastor in the eye, as he continued, "Then, one day about four years ago, as my best friend and I were talking about Jesus Christ, I told him I didn't know how to pray. My best friend said to me, 'Joe, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here's what I suggest --- sit down on a chair and place an empty chair in front of you. And, in faith, see Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky... because He promised"I am with you always."  Then just speak to Him and listen in the same way you're doing with me right now."
The man's eyes sparkle and he smiles, "So I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day."
"I'm careful, though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm", he says with a light chuckle.
The Pastor was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the man to continue with his method of praying. Then they said a prayer together and the Pastor left.
Two nights later, the daughter called to tell the Pastor that her dad had passed away that afternoon.
"Did he seem to go in peace?' he asked.
"Yes. When I left the house around two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me one of his corny jokes and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found he had passed away."
Then with an after thought she said, "But I noticed that there seemed to be something strange. In fact, beyond strange. It actually seemed sort of weird to me. Apparently, just before my dad passed away, he leaned over and rested his head on an empty chair that he always kept next to his bed."

Hebrews 13:5  .... For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."

After reading this story, maybe we should ask ourself, "How much time am I spending with God? How often do I pray to Him? Once a day? Once a week? Only when I need Him?"

The Lord is always there waiting to spend time with us. He created us, not to just sit back and watch how we make it in this world, but so that He could have an intimate relationship with us.

As for me, the dearest time I love spending time with God is while I'm gardening. It's so easy then because we discuss HIS plants. Whether or not they will grow, or how beautiful they look and He gives me insight as to what I need to do to nourish them. The same way He gives me insight as to how He is/will nourish me.

I encourage you ... turn the t.v. off, turn the computer off, step away from the games, stop texting and spend at least five minutes with God. Surely, you have five minutes! Spend time with Him while you're cooking, maybe while you're driving, or better yet, when you're in the shower.
Tell Him things you would tell your friends, your neighbor, or your husband. Thank Him for the blessings He has given you. Praise Him for the times He saved you from danger or rescued you from your burdens and pain!

The best and greatest moments you could ever experience in your life, is the time you spend with God!

God Bless!

SEASON OF LENT (40th Day)

40th Day of Lent
Saturday, April 7, 2012

Life is the activity of God. It is principle,
the animating force, the everywhere-present
potential of livingness. It is not involved
in time; it has no beginning and no end.
Individually, however, life is that universal
force projected into a particular form and
manner of expression. God is life, but
in another sense you are life!

Take this moment to think about your thoughts, words and actions that reflect the Resurrection of your inner splendor. How will you continue to let your light shine?

This Lenten Season has truly been a Spiritual awakening for me. With these Lenten devotionals and sincere studying of what this time means, I was able to grow so much more and find out things about myself that I seemed to have just simply ignored.
Although, I've always understood the meaning of The Resurrection, like many people, I found I still took it for granted. No matter how many times I watched the movies "The Ten Commandments, The Passion of The Christ" and others that are shown to commemorate this time, I never really let it sink in. Or should I say, I realized the intensity of Jesus' suffering but once the movies were over and a new day came, I quickly dismissed the feelings I had previously. How quickly, I forgot what it all truly meant.
As the new day came, the movies were more like... just a "good" movie despicting Christs sufferings. How quickly I dismissed what I experienced as I watched the movies and replaced it with the busyness and "things-to-do" in the world.
But this year, I truly paid attention. I truly let it sink in, I embedded things in my heart and I made the committment to do my best to allow God to change me into the person He created me to be.
This year, I truly opened my heart and my mind as I went through the "Stations of the Cross". After, truly knowing what it all meant, how could I not feel so humble and loved by Jesus and our dear Heavenly Father. How could I not want to change and obey them. I mean, after all, the only real commandment that is required of us is ---- that we love each other.  And it makes so much sense.
When we truly come to love each other, we no longer are judgemental. We no longer are cruel or abusive. Love takes all those evil intentions out of us and replaces it with nothing but goodness. It is easier to have mercy and compassion for our brothers and sisters. We become more understanding about the mistakes by others. It becomes easier to be forgiving. Love will not change the way we look at and treat others, but it will make our life so much easier.
So, I've decided to make the committment to focus on LOVE! But I do realize that before I can focus on love, I need to be sure that I FORGIVE. Without forgiveness, I will not be able to love.

Love and Blessings!
Shalom! ~One Love~

SOMETHING TO PONDER (The Crucifiction of Christ)

The Crucifiction of Christ

I was thinking about a couple of weeks ago when a friend told me she went to see the movie "The Vow".  She said it was so emotional for her that it made her cry.
I remember years ago, the movie "Love Story" made many women cry and there have been many more emotional movies that have caused us to shed a tear. Some were so emotional that even the men have become teary eyed.
I just finished watching a short clip from "One God One Earth" Facebook page about the Crucifiction of Jesus Christ and it made me cry.  As many times as I watched this movie throughout my lifetime, it never caused me to actually cry until now.
Then it made me wonder ... how many others actually shed a tear over this? How may others take it for granted, just as I have, but yet we shed a tear over a MOVIE. While movies are fictional, what causes it to tug at our heartstrings more than the Truth of Jesus' suffering?
If you have been living like I have and taking Jesus' suffering for granted, I encourage you ... examine your heart. We are in a terrible place if we can cry over a "ficitonal movie" and yet watch the Crucifiction of Our Savior with only interest and as a learning experience.

Love and Blessings!

POEM (A Letter From Heaven)

A Letter From Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say,
But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above
Where there are no tears or sadness, there is just eternal Love.

Please do not be unhappy, just because I'm out of sight
Remember that I'm with you, every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me, and said, "I welcome you."

"It's good to have you back again.
You were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on.

I need you here so badly
As part of My big plan,
There's so much that we have to do,
 To help our mortal man."

Then God gave me a list of things He wished for me to do.
And foremost on that list of mine, is to watch and care for you.
I will be beside you, every day of the week and year,
And when you're sad I'm standing there, to wipe away the tear.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
Because you're only human, there's bound to be some tears.

One thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over,
I am closer to you now than I ever was before.
And to my many friends, trust God knows what is best.
I am not far away from you, I'm just beyond the crest.

There are rocky roads ahead for you and many hills to climb,
Together we can do it, taking one day at a time.
It was my philosophy and please I'd like for you
To give unto the world, so the world will give to you.

If you can help someone who's in sorrow or in pain,
Then you can say to God at night, my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented that my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

When you're walking down the street and I am on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.
And when you feel a gentle breeze of wind upon your face,
That's me giving you a great big hug, or just a soft embrace.

When it's time for you to go from that body to be free,
Remember you are not going, you are coming home to me.
I will always love you, from that place way up above,
I will be in touch again soon.
P.S. God sends His Love.

INSPIRATIONAL STORY (God Loves the Letters "R E")

God Loves The Letters "R E"

One late night, as a Tim was helping his wife close up their cafe, he wanders into the dining area and noticed an old man sitting alone at a table. The man was dressed in shabby clothing and Tim thought maybe he was homeless and wanting to stay longer.
As Tim approaches the man, to kindly ask him to leave so they can lock up and go home, he notices the man is playing Scrabble. "You playing Scrabble? By yourself?" he asked.
"Well, would you like to join me?" the older man responded. "How good are you?"
Tim always liked a challenge and wouldn't refuse one, so he sat at the table directly across from the older man as he shuffled the tiles around in large circular motions. When the tiles are distributed between the two men, Tim instantly finds a word to place on the board.
Placing the letters; R S F E H on the board, he lines them up to spell the word FRESH. " As he adds the points on each tile, he reminds the older man that he landed on a square on the board marked "double points". Boasting his total he relaxes and sits back to see what the man will do next.
As the man begins to place two tiles on the board he tells Tim, "Ahh, the letters of my name, R E. My mother always said RE was a good word." And the man places the letters before Tim's word to spell REFRESH. Adding the points, the man reminds Tim that one of his tiles landed on a square marked "triple points" .
"You mean RE as in short for Reggie or something." Tim asked, as he studies his letters then places two tiles on the board to spell DO.
"No. I mean RE. R E, RE That's my name. It's not short for anything. Just RE." The man again lays two tiles on the board, R E, before Tims word to spell the word REDO. Again reminding Tim he landed on a square marked "double points"
Tim doesn't like to lose and he's getting a bit flustered by now and asks. "How many R E's is in that pile? Surely, there can't be that many."
"Oh there's a whole lot of R E's. Did you know R E is God's two favorite letters?" The old man asked Tim. "The whole Bible is summed up in those two letters. REdo, REpeat, REnewal, REpentance, REstoration. Life is all about the do over, son. God does grace over. But first you have to die."
By now, Tim is beginning to think this old man is a little bit strange. He gives him a questionable look and says, "Well, uh yeah. I think I'll pass on that."
"First you have to die, so God can REdo you. If man doesn't pass then there's no RE. No REdo -- no REnew!" the old man explains with excitement in his voice. "That's the whole point, son. The REap come's from the dying. The Bible says, unless seed falls to the ground and dies, it can't be a fruit. You die --- you thrive."
Tim is determined to win the scrabble game and finds a word he believes will outsmart the old man. "Ah ha, here's one you can't add R E to." Tim brags as he lays down his tiles to spell SPEAK.
The old man adds E R to SPEAK to form the word SPEAKER and reminds Tim he landed on a square marked "triple points". Then the man says, "R E is only half of it. R E isn't worth much if it doesn't change anything. E R is how it changes you. Sow becomes sowER, reap becomes reapER, help becomes helpER, heal becomes healER."
The man looks into Tims eyes, "R E is not about what you do --- it's about what you become. God wants the RElationship with us, not the REligion. He REveals the REcord of His laws and I REcognize my need for Him and I REpent and then I REjoice because Jesus came to REconcile us to God."
As the man becomes more joyfully excited and he rises from his chair to stand, "And whoever REceives Him is REscued and REsurrected when we die. He will give us the R E and we shall become the E R's --- we will be brothERs and sistERs, hopER's and believER's, helpERs and fightERs. We will REceive our eternal REward and all that was lost shall be REstored in His eternal love."
Tim smiles at the old man as he gives him a high-five hand slap in congratulations for the speech. The man, is glowing as he sits back down on his seat. Tim smiles and says, "I think I like you RE. You're a lot smarter than you look." And both men begin loudly laughing with pure joy.
      "I should hope so"
As Tim reflects on what he just heard he says, "R E and E R. I definitely never heard it that way before."
"That's what life is all about, son. How will you use your R E to become an E R." As the man stood up to leave, he places two scrabble tiles, R E in Tim's hand, "Remember, son, we all need a REdo"
Tim responds, "Next time you'll give me that REdo."
The old man tells Tim, "I think you have me confused with God, son. Next time I'm still up 1-0.

What if God came down to give you a REdo? Would you be ready? Will you accept?

When we're ready to die to "self"... then we can receive the R E. The longer we remain away from our "flesh"... we become the E R's.

Love and Blessings to all!
Shalom! ~One Love~
