                                Season of the Soul
                                                  By Rev. Anna May Nielsen

The world is filled with the sounds of Christmas. If you listen with your outer ears, you will hear the carols, bells and laughter, and now and then a sob of lonliness. If you listen with the inner ear, you will hear the sound of angel's wings, the hush of inner expectation and the sacred sound of the deepest silence, the vibrant whisper of the eternal Word that was made flesh in Jesus Christ and that through His grace is now made flesh in you.
If you look with the inner eye, you will see the Star of Bethlehem in your own heart, and in the manger of your own soul the radiance of the Christ Presence, newborn and ever-born in you as you express love.
Bethlehem is here and everywhere: It is a region of the Spirit. Christmas is now and always; It is a season of the soul. As you look at the outer sights and listen to the outer sounds of Christmas, also look within and see the Christ child and listen to the soundless Word.

Peace be with you, and peace be with your house, and peace be to all that you have.
