How Still The Night
By James Dillet Freeman
How still the night! How fair the night!
It wears a snowy crown;
Robed like the angel choir in white,
The healing hills look down.
Alight with silver swarms of stars,
The laden trees bend low;
Tonight earth's cares and stains and scars
Are washed away with snow,
The world lies like a child asleep,
Untroubled in the wide
White solitude of silence, deep
Peace of Christmastide.
