JUST FOR TODAY

Although this is titled "Just for Today" these are affirmations I wish to focus on today but it is good to practice everyday if possible.

***************************************************

  Just for Today
(Pray for Enemy)
I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY ENEMY. If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that individual.

Matthew 5:44    "But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!"                                     NLT

I understand my enemy could be a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker, a classmate, a friend, or a stranger.

   Just for Today
(Take No Revenge)

I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK. If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind, I will not respond in that way.

Romans 12:19  Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
              "I will take revenge,
                   I will pay them back,"
                   says the Lord.                         NLT

I understand God will give everybody their just due at the proper time.

Just for Today
(Forgive)

I WILL FORGIVE. I will forgive those who hurt me.

Luke 23:34    Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.            NLT

I understand that I need to not only forgive my loved ones and friends, but I also need to forgive my enemies.

Just for Today
(My Words)

I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY. I will carefully choose and guard my words, making sure that I do not spread gossip.

James 3:1-6   Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.   NLT

I understand that my words, whether to or about someone, can be very harmful and leave and emotional scar forever.

Just for Today
(Share Others Burdens)

I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE. I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

Matthew 5:41    "If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles."                   NLT

I understand that I need to help make other people burdens lighter if I possibly can.

Just for Today
( Encourage)

I WILL ENCOURAGE SOMEONE WHO IS FEELING DOWN. My smile, my expression of concern and support can make a difference to someone who is facing hardship in their life.

Romans 14:19  Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.                                                               NKJV

I understand it's important to raise the spirits of someone who is feeling discouraged.

Just for Today
(Read The Bible)

I WILL FOLLOW OUR LORD BY READING HIS WORD DAILY. I will read at least one Scripture and mediate on it each day.

Luke 9:23   Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me."

I understand that the way to have a closer relationship with God and to become the person He created me to be, I must follow His Word.

                        Just for Today
(Pray for Others)

I WILL PRAY FOR THOSE WHOM OTHERS CONDEMN. I will pray for those whom the world treats badly and does not accept.

Luke 5:30-32    And their scribes and the Pharisees complained, "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."                                                      NKJV

I understand the importance of praying for my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Just for Today
(Care of My Body)

I WILL TAKE CARE OF MY BODY. I will eat less... I will eat healthier... I will exercise... I will be thankful... My body will be a fitting temple for God who lives in me.

1 Corinthians 6:19    Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?             NKJV

I understand it's important to take care of my body. God needs me to do His Will and I must be up to the task.

Just for Today
(Repent)

I WILL CHOOSE TO FOLLOW CHRIST MORE CLOSELY AND TRUST HIM TO FORGIVE MY SINS. Today I will give my cares to God and walk closer to Christ and obey His Teachings.

Mark 1:15   and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."                                                                NKJV

I understand that I will grow closer to God by repenting of my sins and living according to His Word.
